Many of us regret the end of things that do not seem finished.  The end of 2008 and the beginning of 2009, however, is a great reminder that many things are better at the end than at the start.  The end of a project means the work is finished and the rewards can be enjoyed.  The end of a conflict is a welcome relief.  Then end of a season in life means that other things can begin.

Some things end naturally like seasons or interests.  We welcome them into our lives and move on.  Some things in life are brought to an end by others.  Their decisions are beyond our control and so we have to move on.  Some things end because we decide it is time to make changes.

I cannot control things that end naturally and things that end by the decisions of others no matter how inconvenient or stressful they might be.  I have to move on.  I can, however, determine to end some things that I know are not in my best interests.  To determine when “enough is enough” is one of the great gifts and responsibilities of life.  What about you?  Do you have things in your life that need to end?  Resolve to end them and move on with your life.  Relationships, addictions, bad jobs, useless habits, and such will never improve your life.  Stop them and move on.

Remember, the end is better than the beginning.
